Bio
adrienne maree brown is a thinker, activist, and doula living in Detroit. Brown’s non-fiction writing, including her first book Emergent Strategy: Shaping Change, Changing Worlds, centers on transforming social justice movements and actors, through the lens of the natural world, Black feminist thought, complex systems, and self-help. Brown co-edited the anthology Octavia’s Brood: Science Fiction from Social Justice Movements with Walidah Imarisha, and co-hosts the podcast How To Survive The End of The World with Autumn Brown. In May AK Press published her most recent book, Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good, which became a New York Times bestseller.
