Bio

Alteronce Gumby is a contemporary artist and an emerging filmmaker. His preoccupation with the cosmos grounds his artistic practice in discovery. It begins with the examination of light and color, its properties, and media, including resin, glass and gemstones. The result is what he calls, “tonal paintings”, made of unorthodox materials, which produce different hues, values and energies. Through intensive research and observation, Alteronce derives these ocular and kinetic possibilities. His paintings are composed to expand the understanding of abstraction, life and the origins of the universe.
