Atsushi Numata
Bio
Atsushi Numata is the owner and chef of Ni Japanese Deli in the Lower East Side. A native of Japan, Numata got a taste for cooking in the kitchens of his grandmother’s restaurant. Numata came to New York City in the late ’80s to be closer to another passion: hip-hop music. With experience as a line chef of large restaurants in NYC and Tokyo, he soon founded Ni Deli with his wife and business partner. Atsushi focuses on traditional recipes with seasonal local ingredients in his allergy-free, gluten-free bento boxes. He is also a DJ/music producer who has released an album of beats.
