Austin McCormick
Bio
Choreographer, director, and producer Austin McCormick is the founder of Company XIV, a Brooklyn-based ensemble that combines Baroque court dance, cabaret, burlesque, circus, and opera, named after the 17th-century French monarch Louis XIV, who codified ballet and the arts. His works consist of riffs of childhood classics like The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, and Little Red Riding Hood. His other works Paris and Seven Sins–explore, respectively, mythology and biblical concepts. He has choreographed or will choreograph for The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Canadian Opera Company, Theater for a New Audience, The Kennedy Center, and the Perelman Performing Arts Center.
