Boris Kor Tom Zeebroek is a musician known by his stage name Bolis Pupul. Growing up in Ghent, Belgium, the son of a Hong Kong-born Chinese mother and a Belgian father, he hadn’t negated his Chinese roots, but he also hadn’t embraced them. In the wake of his mother’s passing in 2018, he began exploring his heritage as well as his mother’s place of birth. His solo debut album, Letter To Yu, which seizes on the creative and personal liberation of Bolis Pupul’s lived experiences, is a love letter to her. Inspired by time spent in Hong Kong, each track unfolds with its own character and story. The collection was released in March of 2024 via Deewee, the label founded by Soulwax, who also co-produced it.
