Bio

New York-based luthier, artist, and DIY- enthusiast Cindy Hulej is known for the custom guitars she hand-makes from scratch out of 200-year-old wood from famous NYC buildings. She has been building guitars for a decade now and is based out of Carmine Street Guitars in Greenwich Village working alongside her mentor Rick Kelly. She adds unique customization on top of the already customized specs of the historically relevant timber through using materials such as leather, velvet, and feathers, as well as hand painting, woodburning, and gilding the instruments.
