David Yow
Bio
David Yow is an artist, actor, and musician best known as the frontman of the Jesus Lizard, one of the most prominent noise rock bands of the 1990s. During this time, Yow earned a reputation for hurling himself into audiences with seemingly little regard for his own safety. Prior to the Jesus Lizard, he was the frontman of Scratch Acid, a seminal noise rock band based out of Austin, Texas, in the 1980s. In addition to his music career, Yow has an extensive acting CV, having appeared in such films as Rattlesnake, The Toxic Avenger (2023) and I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore. In 2014, Akashic Books published Yow’s book of cat illustrations, Copycat: And a Litter of Other Cats. He was also the host of Cooking with Yow, a short-lived cooking show featuring a puppet named Rufus Leaking. The Jesus Lizard recently reunited and recorded a new album entitled Rack.
