Emily Fischer
Bio
Emily Fischer received her Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Michigan in 2005, where she was awarded the Marian Sarah Parker Award for outstanding achievement by a female student. Since moving to New York City, Emily worked at L.E.FT, MADE, JPDA, and a host of other four-letter architectural acronyms. In 2009, she founded the interdisciplinary design studio, Haptic Lab. Specializing in tactile and sensory design, Haptic Lab’s custom handmade objects and spaces playfully explore touch-based sensations. Emily made her first quilted maps when her mother was diagnosed with glaucoma; these early projects were meant to be wayfinding tools for the visually impaired.
