Emma Gerson
Bio
lucky break is a 23-year-old New York-born indie rock artist based in San Francisco. She’d released songs under different names for the past five years, but conceived of an alternate identity in response to her changing musical approach. After spending six months abroad battling heartbreak with the help of ‘90s slow burns (Fiona Apple, The Magnetic Fields, Pavement), she returned to California, thought deeply about the right name (something that drew from new age spirituality with a touch of humor), and the project lucky break was born. Blending classic alt-rock, punk, and modern indie pop with a knack for homegrown radio hooks, the Biggest Thing EP marks lucky break’s first official release. The collection was recorded with Elliot Woodbridge (Ha Vay) in a makeshift car studio. She is at work on her full-length debut.
