Erin Douglas
Bio
Erin Douglas is a travel, culture, and documentary photographer, creative consultant, and the Founder of the Black Burner Project. She is most well known for her photography campaign called “Black Burner Project.” As the Founder of Black Burner Project, she has been documenting the growing presence of people of color—with a focus on Black people—who attend Burning Man through photography and personal narrative interviews since 2018. She also received an art honorarium from Burning Man for her art installation, Black! Asé, which debuted at the 2022 event. For that project, she conceptualized and led a diverse team of over 40 in the creation of the first large-scale photography art installation to feature portraits of Burners of Color at Burning Man. Over the past three years, she has curated, produced, and documented a yearly word-of-mouth popup BIPOC group photoshoot at Burning Man, becoming a hugely anticipated event in celebration of diversity. She has taken the production from 35 in the first year to an unexpected 500+ people in 2022, making it the largest gathering of PoCs in Burning Man history.
