Bio
Born and raised in New York City, Guy Richards Smit is known for his paintings, video installations, musicals and cartoons exploring the themes of narcissism, desire, power, and failure. Using pop cultural forms such as Stand-Up comedy, Pop Music, Comic Books, Gag Cartoons and even television Sitcoms, he has conveyed a sharply observant cultural and political message with philosophical observations and humor. He has exhibited at, among others, The Museum of Modern Art, The Hirshhorn Museum and The Pompidou Center while his gag cartoons have appeared in Hyperallergic, Artnet, and the New Yorker.
