Holly Herndon
Bio
Holly Herndon is a composer, musician, and sound artist, as well as a recently minted doctor of composition at Stanford University. Since her 2012 debut album Movement, she has mined the edges of electronic and avant garde pop, drawing from her musical and academic pursuits alike. Her 2015 album Platform was “the first commercially released album to include a track intended to trigger autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR.)” Her 2019 album Proto, created with her and Mat Dryhurst’s “AI baby” Spawn and a host of collaborators, utilizes a live vocal ensemble and machine learning to create a surprisingly life-affirming body of work about the relationship between humans and machines. Herndon lives and works in Berlin.
