Janelle Abbott
Bio
Born into the fashion industry, Janelle Abbott (JRAT) spent her youth in the Seattle factory where her parents designed and manufactured Tencel clothing. After graduating from Parsons School of Design, she carved her own path outside of the corporate fashion machine—one committed to reclamation, sustainability, and a zero-waste design methodology. Her brand, JRAT Zero Waste, is a testament to the human labor it takes to create the products we engage with daily, while her project Wardrobe Therapy allows private clients to rework clothing they already own. Janelle also engages with activism and fine art, including the performance “14 Hours” (2024), and the works “Wall Doll,” “Prayer Chair,” and “En Croix Dissolve Wearable Rug.”
