Jaz Coleman
Bio
Jaz Coleman is a composer, conductor, and vocalist best known for his work with English post-punk pioneers Killing Joke. The band’s impact on heavy music in the 1980s and ’90s cannot be overstated—everyone from Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails to Metallica and Tool openly cite Killing Joke as an influence. As a conductor and composer, Coleman has worked with the London Philharmonic, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and as composer in residence with the Prague Symphony Orchestra—among many others. In 2019, he recorded Magna Invocatio: A Gnostic Mass For Choir and Orchestra Inspired By The Sublime Music of Killing Joke with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Russia’s oldest orchestra.
