Jess Shoman
Bio
Jess Shoman is a singer/songwriter in the Chicago-based band, Tenci. They started Tenci in 2018 and have since released two full length albums on Keeled Scales: My Heart is an Open Field (2020) and a swollen river, a well overflowing (2021). The band name comes from Shoman’s grandmother Hortencia, and the legacy of family is woven throughout their music. Jess reframes complex feelings by turning their head sideways and seeing them in a different light. Their writing often feels like a nursery rhyme, a naming of animals and clowns under your bed, a recipe for understanding life, and hopefully, each other.
