Joel Hodgson

Bio

Joel Hodgson started out performing magic and ventriloquism in eighth grade and went on to create Mystery Science Theater 3000 in the late ‘80s. The show ran for eleven seasons and garnered a Peabody Award for Excellence in Broadcasting as well as several Primetime Emmy nominations. In 2015, Hodgson ran the first Kickstarter to #BringBackMST3K, which raised over $6 million dollars, breaking a crowdfunding record as the most funded film or tv project of its time. In the last six years, Mystery Science Theater 3000 has produced 20 feature-length episodes on Netflix which are currently rated “100% Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as three national tours, and a comic book series for Dark Horse Comics. He launched a second Kickstarter campaign in April of 2021.
