Johnny Marr

Bio

Johnny Marr is a guitarist and songwriter best known for his work with the Smiths, Modest Mouse, and the Pretenders. He has also worked with Billie Eilish, Talking Heads, and Oasis, among many others. He collaborated with composer Hans Zimmer on the score for Christopher Nolan’s 2010 film Inception. Since 2013, Marr has released four solo albums. His memoir, Set the Boy Free, was published in 2016. In 2023, he released the compilation Spirit Power: The Best of Johnny Marr and the book Marr’s Guitars, which catalogs his collection of vintage instruments.
