Artist and film director Marco Brambilla recently screened a brand-new work titled After Utopia at The Wolfsonian—FIU in Miami Beach, running alongside Art Basel Miami Beach. The short film will be on view in After Utopia: Pavilions and Spirit Lines* *through March 1, 2026. The looping three-channel video installation reimagines 135 years of World’s Fairs through the use of artificial intelligence. Brambilla focused on eighteen expos—from Paris 1889 to Osaka 2025—each represented by one pavilion. The work draws on blueprints, photographs, exhibition brochures, and other ephemera from The Wolfsonian’s permanent collection which ranges from 1850-1950.
