Maria Bamford
Bio
Maria Bamford is the very definition of a singular talent—a comedian, actress, and writer whose work is unmistakably and remarkably her own. Known for her unusual comedic style—a blend of observational humor and character work that employs a variety of different voices (literally) and personas—Bamford has received widespread critical acclaim for the ways in which her work deals with depression, anxiety, familial dysfunction, and, most prominently, mental illness. In addition to her celebrated body of work as a comedian, her writing has appeared in the NY Times, LA Weekly, and The Onion and she has appeared extensively in television (both as an actor and a voiceover artist), including starring in two seasons of Lady Dynamite, a surreal comedy series based on her actual life. She recently launched a Kickstarter project called Noooo-CD which she describes as “a Comedy Series about my very scary, very funny intrusive thoughts and how I’m recovering from it.”
