Molly Bounds
Bio
Molly Bounds (b. 1990) is a painter, sculptor, and performer currently living in Los Angeles. Born in Texas and raised in Colorado, she received her BFA in Printmaking from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Molly Bounds examines the complexity of choice and the misunderstanding of human agency through psychological portraiture. Though highly influenced by sequential art, Bounds focuses on the aggravated still. In cold tones, subjects appear calm but unsettling, heavily cropped and magnified, as their states of being are exaggerated through elongated posture and slanted light. She has exhibited work in Oakland, Portland, Marfa, Chicago, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Hong Kong, Seoul and Australia, and was a recent resident at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. She is currently preparing for a solo with Part 2 Gallery in Oakland.
