Moshtari Hilal
Bio
Moshtari Hilal is a Kabul-born German artist whose work explores displaced identities, surrealism, body hair, and beauty standards. She is the force behind projects such as #embracetheface, a portrait series and commentary on Eurocentric beauty standards, and most recently #noselikephallus. Her first solo show, “the angle of a phallus is equal to the angle of a nose,” recently premiered at Galerie 21 in Hamburg, Germany. She is the co-author of We Were Drawn Here, a book of illustrations inspired by large-format negatives from photo studios in Peshawar in collaboration with artist and archivist Lukas Birk.
