Nicoletta Favari, Christopher Salvit, and Christian Zollner
Bio
Pianist Nicoletta Favari and percussionist Christopher Salvito make music together as Passepartout Duo. They create handmade musical instruments that range from analog electronic circuits and conventional percussion, to room-size textile installations and found objects. Looking for ways of sustaining an independent musical career and building an international network of artists and musicians, they have been on a nearly continuous world tour since they began collaborating in 2015, and their experiences traveling have heavily influenced their unconventional creative process. Their most recent album, “Radio Yugawara” is a collaboration with Japanese ambient music pioneers Inoyama Land.
Coming from a DIY electronics and art background, Christian Zollner co-founded the Berlin-based electronic instrument company, KOMA Elektronik in 2010. KOMA’s products include effects pedals and synthesizers as well as the Field Kit, an experimental tool for making electro-acoustic music with everyday objects. Zollner’s personal projects include a collaboration with DJ and musician Bertolt Meyer to modify his prosthetic arm to control a modular synthesizer.
KOMA and Passepartout Duo recently collaborated to create the Chromaplane, a new electromagnetic “instrument for daydreaming” designed around an intuitive, touchless playing style. They’ve launched the project on Kickstarter with a campaign that’s live through August 25.
