Nicolette Lim

Bio

Nicolette Lim is an interdisciplinary artist with a focus in drawing and sculpture. She utilizes different mediums such as wax, paper, fibers and tattooing. Her work depicts queerness in relation to the Hag figure, evolved from assigned girlhood violence and yearning. The backdrop of her home country Malaysia is where she pulls from her own girlhood, where oppression towards the LGBTQ community is an inherited norm from its white colonizers. She mourns and processes the effects of these postcolonial ideals of gender and sexuality through her work and the Hag. Nicolette currently resides in Chicago.
