Ottessa Moshfegh is an American author and novelist. Her debut novel, Eileen, won the Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award, was shortlisted for the Booker Prize, and was a fiction finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Her most recent novel, My Year of Rest and Relaxation, was published in 2018. Here she discusses the inspiration and impetus for her writing, the importance of deadlines, and why creative blocks might just be the universe telling you that this isn’t the right time to make something.
