Paul Waters

Bio

Paul Waters (b. 1936) is an African American artist in NYC. He has been making art on The Bowery since 1967. Paul exclusively uses his hands and fingers to apply paint, and a pair of scissors as his “drawing” tool. He has travelled to Europe, Africa, Asia, the South Pacific, and South America. His fascination with shadows and symbols result in a timeless and playful language. Paul is represented by Eric Firestone Gallery where he was the subject of a major solo presentation in 2022, Paul Waters: In the Beginning, Paintings from the 1960s and 70s.
