Richard Kern
Bio
Richard Kern is a photographer and filmmaker who rose to prominence in the 1980s as part of the Cinema of Transgression movement. His early films Fingered, You Killed Me First, and The Right Side Of My Brain feature storied underground figures Lydia Lunch, Henry Rollins, and Lung Leg. Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, he also shot music videos for Sonic Youth and the Butthole Surfers among others. He is perhaps best known for his Taschen books New York Girls, Action, and Shot By Kern.
