Rollie Pemberton is an Edmonton-born, Toronto-based rapper, writer, and former poet laureate, who makes music as Cadence Weapon. He’s released four albums and collaborated with artists including Kaytranada, Jacques Greene, Deradoorian, Casey MQ, and Fat Tony. Pemberton’s writing has appeared in Pitchfork, Red Bull Music Academy Daily, Hazlitt, and more, and his book Bedroom Rapper will be published in 2022. His latest album, Parallel World, explores themes of African cultural memory, gentrification, structural inequality, and systemic racism.
