Senthuran Varatharajah
Bio
Born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, Senthuran Varatharajah is a writer and philosopher living and working in Berlin, Germany. His family fled Sri Lanka’s civil war in the ’80s to Germany. He studied Philosophy, Cultural Studies and Theology. His debut novel Vor der Zunahme der Zeichen was published in 2016 and won numerous prizes, among them the 3sat Prize, the Alfred Doblin Fellowship of the Berlin Academy of Arts, the Berlin Senate Fellowship, the Kranichsteiner Literaturförderpreis, the Bremer Literaturförderpreis, the Chamisso Award and the Rauriser Literaturpreis. In 2020 he wrote the libretto Und Abraham streckte seine Hand aus for the Hamburger Elbphilharmonie. He is currently writing his second novel.
