Tashi Wada does not shy away from his family’s artistic heritage. The son of pivotal Fluxus artist and drone master Yoshi Wada and San Francisco gallery cofounder Marilyn Bogerd, Wada has funneled the lessons of his upbringing into his own label and records that embolden and reimagine the expansive soundscapes of his father. For his magnetic 2018 LP on RVNG, Nue, Wada harnessed past relationships—including those with his partner and bandmate, Julia Holter, and his father—into 10 pieces that feverishly shift from enormous bagpipe drones to mesmeric electronic melodies, from surrealist percussion explorations to haunted keyboard hymns.
