Andrew Eldritch

Bio

Andrew Eldritch is an English songwriter and lyricist best known for his work in The Sisters Of Mercy. Founded in Leeds in 1980, the band issued three EPs and a handful of singles through their own Merciful Release record label before signing distribution deals with major labels that resulted in the widespread dissemination of their three classic albums, First and Last and Always (1985), Floodland (1987) and Vision Thing (1990). In the early ’90s, Eldritch stopped releasing Sisters Of Mercy albums—he even stopped recording music—though he kept writing songs, many of which appear in Sisters Of Mercy live shows to this day.
