Buke and Gase (formerly Buke and Gass) is a Hudson, NY-based musical duo. Early on, band members Arone Dyer and Aron Sanchez were noted for their use of handmade instruments such as the “toe-bourine;” the “buke,” a six-string former-baritone ukulele; and the “gase,” a guitar-bass hybrid. Though they have largely retired those instruments, the duo have since developed “Arx,” a device that revolutionized their performance, allowing them to trigger percussive sounds, change effects on their instruments, and control vocal harmonies all with the punch of an arcade button. The band released their first new record in over five years, Scholars, in 2019.
