Cyrus Moussavi
Bio
Cyrus Moussavi is a filmmaker and music archivist. He runs Mississippi Records, a record label dedicated to underground music from across the timelines. He also creates films about music with collaborators like Lonnie Holley, Moor Mother, and Hubert Taylor. His work has been shown at Sundance, BlackStar, and streamed on the Criterion Collection. His latest film, a documentary for PBS about the great spiritual singer Brother Theotis Taylor, will be at festivals beginning in late 2026. As the head of Mississippi Records, Cyrus researches and releases overlooked music on vinyl LPs. The label has released over 200 albums, working closely with families and heirs to reflect their vision and establish their creative and legal rights to their work.
