One Year

The Creative Independent turns one today.

We launched this site last year on September 26th to provide a resource of practical and emotional guidance for artists/creators. Our first interview featured Eileen Myles discussing how she uses Instagram as a tool for her art and writing. Today we catch up with Eileen again, this time to talk about other aspects of her process.

We had just the one interview that day. Now we have close to 300. Our archive includes interviews, notes, creative approaches, and specific bits of shared wisdom, and we’re still growing.

We’ve also done a number of events since we started, so it seems fitting to celebrate these past 12 months with another one. We’ve put together a night of music, art, film, and readings featuring some of the people who’ve previously popped up on our site. It’s happening in Greenpoint, which is where we make TCI each day. It’s free, and there will be free drinks at the start of the night. You’ll find the information below.
